Parent and Family Engagement Plan

BaMO Academy is a Title I school under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is a federally funded program that provides additional support and resources to schools based on scholars’ economic needs to help improve academic achievement.

Title I funding helps strengthen teaching and learning, support scholar success, and promote meaningful family engagement.

As a Title I school, BaMO Academy partners with families to develop a Parent and Family Engagement Plan that encourages strong communication and active involvement in scholar learning.

What is it?

This is a plan that describes how BaMO Academy will provide opportunities to improve family engagement to support student learning. BaMO Academy values the contributions and involvement of parents to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes the different ways that BaMO Academy will support parent engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home.

How is it revised?

BaMO Academy invited all parents to attend our School Wide Planning and Budget meeting to review and revise this parental involvement policy, our school-parent compact and the parental involvement budget. Additionally, parent input and comments regarding this plan are welcome during the school year through an online form. The plan is posted on our school Website for parents to view and submit feedback throughout the year. All parent feedback received during the year will be used to revise the plan for the next school year. We also distribute an annual survey online and by mail to ask parents for their suggestions on the plan and the use of funds for parental involvement. Parents can also give feedback during several parent meetings and activities during the school year including our PTA and Local Governance Team meetings.

Who is it for?

All students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, are encouraged and invited to fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan BaMO Academy will provide full opportunity for the participation of parents with limited English, parents with disabilities and parents of migratory children.

Where is it available?

The plan is posted to the school website, emailed to all parents,  and distributed at the Annual Title I meeting. Parents can also retrieve a copy in the Parent Resource Center.

As part of this plan, BaMO Academy and our families will develop a school-parent compact. It is an agreement that explains how parents, teachers and students work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards.

The compacts are reviewed and updated annually based on feedback from parents, students and teachers during the School-wide Planning meeting and the School Forum.

Parents and teachers worked diligently to create compacts specifically for each grade level. A copy of the school-parent compact brochure is distributed to every family to use during the year.

BaMO Academy believes that family engagement is built through meaningful, two-way communication that supports scholar learning and overall school success. We believe that:

• Parents and families play an important role in supporting their scholar’s academic growth and development.
• Families should be encouraged and empowered to actively engage in their scholar’s education at both school and home.
• Parents are valued as full partners in education and should have opportunities to participate in decision-making, leadership teams, and advisory committees that support scholar success.
• Strong family-school partnerships help strengthen the implementation of the goals and activities outlined in this plan.

BaMO Academy and our parents have adopted the National PTA Standards for Family-School Partnerships as the school’s model in engaging parents, students, and the community. These standards are:

BaMO invites ALL parents to join the Title I Family Engagement Committee to share ideas and ways to involve other parents/guardians to build partnerships with school, families, and the community. The team will meet during the school year, but parents can also submit their ideas or suggestions during all activities and meetings as well as through our parent surveys and website.

To strengthen our school-home partnership and support the achievement of our school goals, BaMO Academy will:

• Provide school and parent information in English and Spanish through our website, newsletters, flyers, and social media platforms.
• Offer ongoing staff training focused on strengthening family engagement and effective parent communication strategies.
• Partner with early learning programs, including Head Start and Early Reading initiatives, to support smooth transitions into kindergarten.
• Share academic information, standards, assessments, and scholar progress updates so families can actively support learning at home.
• Communicate regularly with families and the community about schoolwide events, programs, and activities through multiple communication platforms.
• Collaborate with parents to develop meaningful trainings and presentations that strengthen family-school partnerships.
• Provide parents with resources, materials, and strategies during meetings and conferences to support scholar achievement.
• Utilize our Partners in Education and Family Engagement Committee to increase awareness and participation in family engagement activities.
• Gather ongoing parent feedback through surveys, suggestion forms, input cards, and family events to continuously improve our programs and supports.

BaMO Academy will host the following events to build the capacity for strong parental involvement to support a partnership among the school, parents, and the community to improve student academic achievement.

Curriculum Night- August 26, 2026

Receive information from your scholar’s teacher regarding the different areas of your scholar’s academics for the upcoming school year.

Annual Title I Meeting-September 15, 2026

Learn about our Title I program, including our parent and family engagement plan, the school-wide plan, the school-parent compacts, and parents’ right to know. Invitations will be mailed and posted in the school newsletter and local media.

Fall Parent Teacher Conference Week – October 26-30, 2026

Meet with your scholar’s teacher to discuss their academic performance and learn ways that you can support their academic progress at home.

Parent Literacy Night – October 28, 2026

Learn reading strategies to do at home.

Receive data on your student’s academic performance. Learn tips on how to help prepare them for testing at home.

Future Events will be posted on the school’s website, and announced through take home flyers, email, text, and voice messenger.

Our parent center has a variety of resources including meeting space, computers, a printer, a uniform closet, and washer and dryer. The Parent Center is available Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 am –1:30 pm. Please contact our school at 404-802-4200 if you have any questions.
