Principal Shannon Holloman Letter

Dear BaMO Families,

I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful summer filled with rest, laughter, and special moments together. It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Barack & Michelle Obama Academy. Returning to BaMO, where I previously had the privilege of serving as Assistant Principal, truly feels like coming home. I am honored to lead a school community that has always held a special place in my heart.

For those I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, I am entering my sixteenth year in education and have served as a classroom teacher, Math Instructional Coach, Turnaround Math Specialist, Assistant Principal, and most recently, Principal of Peace Preparatory Academy on Atlanta's Westside. Throughout my journey, I have remained committed to building strong relationships, maintaining high expectations, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Team BaMO has accomplished so much over the past several years, and I am excited to build on that momentum. Preliminary data reflects some of the highest academic growth our school has experienced. While we celebrate these accomplishments, we know success is about more than test scores. It is about developing the whole child by creating a learning environment where scholars are challenged academically, supported socially and emotionally, and inspired to reach their fullest potential.

This year, our theme is "Amplifying Excellence: Turning Up the Volume on Scholar Success!" Just like a great performance, every member of our school community has an important role to play. When educators, families, scholars, and community partners work together, amazing things happen. I look forward to partnering with you to ensure every scholar continues Soaring Toward Limitless Possibilities.

I would love the opportunity to meet you before the school year begins! If you're available, I'll be out and about in our community on Tuesday, July 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and I hope to meet many of you then. I also look forward to welcoming you and your scholars to Open House on Friday, July 31, where we'll have the chance to connect as we kick off an incredible school year together.
